Hi,
I just test-installed Castalia 5 on to the D7 installation on my
internet PC, and now D7 will not load - although the installation
proceeded with no apparent problem. The Castalia 5 install may well
be a coincidence as I have been away for a few weeks and have not run
D7 for a while. There has also been Windows XP auto updates and even
a couple of Acrobat Pro updates since I last ran D7, not to mention
multiple Virus Checker etc. updates. The PC has also been doing the
odd funny thing of late and I am gradually transferring all its
functionality to a replacement PC. So, I am definitely not saying
with any degree of certainty that Castalia has triggered the problem.
Happily, also, all Delphi development has already been transferred to
the new PC, which is still loading D7 withouth problem (but still with
Castalia 4). So, I do not yet have a critical issue, but the failure
to load is not a simple corruption of the IDE as there is Borland
licensing message coming up and so there may have been some subtle
change which will affect my main installation in due course. Also,
of course, I need to know that it is safe to install Castalia 5 on my
main PC.

What I am getting when I try to load D7 (or autorun by double
clicking on a DPR file) is a dialogue window, apparently from Borland,
with the title bar "Register Delphi" and the following text:

"Borland license information was found, but is not valid for Delphi.
You can not run Delphi withouth this information.

Click the "Exit" button to exit Delphi."

There is only an Exit button. Nothing else! Very useful and
informative!

I have been naively imagining that I could survive Codegear demise or
extended loss of access to their website by sticking with D7 and not
exposing myself to the mandatory registration requirements of later
versions. So, this situation is something of a worry.

Any advice on what to do? Any confirmation that Castalia 5 on D7 is
unlikely to be the cause?
Regards
Allan Knox

Just for the record, Castalia 5 installed with no problem at all after
I had fixed the registration corruption problem.
