When browsing shop.borland.com i come across a nice upgrade for users of
D3-6 to 8 for $399 (not bad), but when i click purchase it adds this
"software assurance" to my purchase list.. I read that it will add it to the
list, but is this realy required..

Wont I still be able to receive updated from borlands site when i register
my D8 product? I'm not sure if that price is related to 'physical' updates
(CDs that are shipped with updates on them) or all updates in general. Any
guidance would be appreciated.

Software Assurance gives you any and all updates to the product
line within 12 months, including, should it happen, Delphi 9, 10,
11, etc, along with two or three Borland Support Incidents, which
each carry a $250 USD price, normally.

Without Software Assurance, you are still able to register and get
the normal service pack / power toy downloads from the registered
users portion of the web site.

Obviously this link is specific to the Americas, there are similar
programs for various countries:

Check out "Bronze" or higher support contracts.
