|

I installed BDS2006 Professional with the C++ set only. I have a 3rd
party set of components (I have an earlier version in BCB 5.0) that I
want to add. When I attempt to open their package (.bdsproj), I get the
message that I do not have the Delphi personality loaded. I went back
to the installation and attempted to modify the languages that were
loaded to now include Delphi and C#. But, I still get the same message.
Nothing in the help files describes the "personality" or how do
anything about it.

I don't know if it make a difference, but have you tried starting the full
"Borland Developer Studio 2006" which load all the personalities instead of
just running the "C++Builder" personaility.

Just installing the Delphi personality it not enough. You have to actually
load the personality into the IDE at startup. There is a command-line
parameter that specifies a particular personality to load, or else omit the
parameter to load all installed personalities.

Well, apparently when I went back and installed Delphi and C#, the start
menu changed, giving me two new options for starting BDS, i.e., in the
Delphi or the C# personalities. No need for any command line. And as
Palle suggested, starting BDS in full, rather than a specific item,
loads all personalities, so that one can create in any by starting a new
application. Now on to another problem (that of the tool palette).
Thanks,
Ken
