Munich, 16. October 2006,
Registered customers can now download WPTools V5.20.9. The response
time after mouse clicks has been improved and problems have been
fixed.
Most important, together with our new version wPDF Version 3, PDF
files can be created which meet the PDF/A specification because
paragraphs and layout elements are tagged within the page description.
This improves the reusability of the PDF information in certain reader
applications.
WPTools 5 is a suite of powerful native Delphi VCL components to
implement a complete word processor application. It supports RTF
load/save, HTML import/export, tab stops, table of contents, paragraph
styles (CSS), headers and footers, sections, 100% WYSIWYG, zooming,
page layout mode, optionally also footnotes and text boxes. Images
are sizable and movable and the text can wrap on both sides! Use
"wPDF" for efficient export to PDF. WPTools can be used to simply
replace RichEdit DLL based editors or it can be used a full featured
word processor - embedded right into the application, without
additional libraries.
WPTools 5 is based on a new and advanced architecture which was
created from scratch, it is not based on previous versions but uses
compatible types, properties and methods.
Features you get with WPTools
- clean but powerful memory concept with style sheet handling (CSS)
- character and paragraph attributes support 'undefined' setting
- separation between data and edit/display objects
- movable images with text wrap around
- support for sections (different page sizes and/or header and footer
in one document)
- edit header/footer in page layout mode (100% WYSIWYG!)
- Create table of contents with page-reference objects
- tab stops with fill signs
- optional reporting with WPReporter, it is easy to understand for the
end user since it is built directly into the word processor
- more than 50 demo projects
Optional in WPTools Premium:
- text boxes: formatted text and tables in a movable box, editable
WYSIWYG. Saved and loaded using standard RTF 'shape' tags

Hi,

Just a question about wPDF 3.
Do you have unicode support now?
|
Yes - this is the "CID font" feature. For asian languages you still
need to provide the propper charset since those languages require a
certain predefined mapping mode to be used. But CID fonts work fine
for texts which use russian, greek or other special characters without
a specified charset.
| Quote: | Are there improvements with alignment and spacing of small fonts.
Recently the font placement has been updated, too. The placing is more |
exact now and uses less memory in PDF file.
| Quote: | The problem I have is:
When I set wpDontAdjustTextSpacing, the text are not right justified
correctly.
When I don't set wpDontAdjustTextSpacing, then spaces between
characters and words are ajusted, so that two words are not really
well separated anymore.
|
I am not sure if there is a change in this area. But the exact
placement should solve this problem.
| Quote: | Personally I would like to output PDF text directly using Twips and
right now, things are still somehow depending on Windows fonts.
|
wPDF is designed as a conversion engine from metafiles to PDF - so it
depends on windiows fonts and usually this is what people expect. It
makes wPDF very easy to use since you can direct screen or printer
output to a PDF file.
