Hi guys,

We are a delphi team and are considering extending the features
of our apps to PDA's, phones and wireless devices that run
on Microsoft's Mobile platform, ie Pocket PC and
SmartPhone applications.

Can Octane (Delphi Cool cut it at this type of development?

Cheers,
Jason.

Delphi 8 for .NET does NOT include support for teh Compact .NET
Framework, my biggest quibble with it. And there has not been a peep
from Borland about when/if the support will be there. Very annoying,
especially when such devices were so much of the talk at the most
recent Borland Developer's Conference.

Without the Compact .NET Framework, the answer to your question is no,
Delphi 8 will not be of use to you on those platforms (I.e., Pocket
PS, Mobile, and SmartPhone).

MS has not made available for licensing that framework. That being said, Danny
Thorpe has stated that D8, with a little tweaking, can create PDA .NET apps
using that framework.
