Here's the scenario:
I have a web-based application written in Java/JSP that provides some
look-up features that could be used in another application. I would
like to be able to search for something in the web-based app and have
it pass the information to sent to an app running on the client
computer that is also running on the same system as the browser that
loads the web-based app.

HELP!

Someone suggested that Active-X/OLE could handle this. Can someone out
there through me a bone as to how to approach this? Any alternative
ideas? Anything?

Thanks so much!
