I am trying to figure out how to use dbexpress by reading the white paper by
Bill Todd. However the example he refers to did not install when D7 was
installed. Should it have? So far I am too confused with it to write a
coherent question.

Did you download the demo app by clicking the DemoApp.zip link at
http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,29106,00.html ?
The app uses the sample EMPLOYEE.GDB database that ships with
InterBase.
