I am in a situation where I have to convert an ancient Clipper FlexFile
format (with DBV memos) to something readable.

Searching the archives I understand there are two options:

1) use a programme like dbAssist to do the conversion.
Tried that, the memo fields are not shown (just the garbled pointers),
so does not work.

2) use the DBVRead component.
All the sites that carry the DBVRead component have dead links.

So, my question is:

Does anyone have the DBVRead component, and, if so, would he/she be so
kind to e-mail it to me...?
Or does anyone have another idea regarding conversion?

Many thanks,
Dom

Dominic
I have done this before (being an old Clipper programmer) and
found the easiest way is just to write a quick "down and dirty"
Clipper/Flexfile app specific to my requirements that takes the
DBV file and converts it to standard DBT. Once run, there are generally no problems with converting the DBT
Hope this helps
Cheers
Bill

I wish I could, but I don't have Clipper, nor Flexfile! I was hoping
there would a tool out there capable of reading and converting these.
dbAssist cleams to do so, but doesn't...

Thanks,
Dom

I use a app called BRO plus that has flexfile built in. I have used it to do just what you are asking.

Couldn't find any reference to it on the net.

In the mean time, I rolled my own component, based on DBVRead, which
apparently was available on DSP (which I thought had ceased to exist).

Thanks!
Dom
