I am running BDS2006 Update 2 on a dual monitor system. I have my
debug desktop set up to display a number of debug windows on my 2nd
monitor, while in my normal desktop I display the component palette
and structure viewer on the 2nd monitor (where I design my forms).

My primary monitor displays the editor with a pane docked to its left.
The pane contains the object inspector, project manager and Templates
pane. I use this setup in both normal and debug desktops. All this has
been working fine for months.

Starting yesterday, when I select the debug desktop from the
View/Desktops menu (or debug a project), the pane docked to the left
of my editor disappears and the editor expands horizontally to fill
the entire primary monitor. I have no idea what could have changed to
cause this behavior.

Once this has happened, I can manually select the debug desktop from
View/Desktops and my primary monitor setup is then displayed
correctly.

So, the bottom line is when I switch desktops from normal to debug,
whether automatically or manually, I see the misbehavior. If I then
select the debug desktop again it displays as it should. I have tried
resaving my debug desktop, restarting the IDE and rebooting to no
avail.

Can someone suggest what might be causing this?

The first time the IDE is switched to debug layout (automatically or
manually), it
doesn't show/hide all windows properly. When I select it again, it works.
Basically, I have to set a desktop layout twice for it to work. But for me
it's been
like this since the first day...

Thanks for that. At least it's not just me. Anyone else seeing this?

As I always (since BCB5) experienced similar problems and even crashes using a
dual monitor and/or dual edit window setups, I gave up and use a huge primary
monitor for development. The second shows my application, but debugging is only
done on the primary one.

I should add that I only use 1 monitor.

What I think is happening is that BCB first sets the position (docking
locations) of
all windows, and THEN sets visibility. Obviously you can't position a
hidden window
so the first switch makes it visible, the second switch updates its
position.

Theory.
