|
|
Hi
I'm trying to debug an NT Service App that gets stuck showing the
status 'starting'.
I tried writing to a file on c: drive but that only seems to work after
someone has logged on.
| Quote: | From what I could find on the net, the way to trace what is happening
is to use the windows event log. |
I found a component and the demo looked easy to use and worked, so I
have tried to include this into my service.
I'm then creating an msi using installsheild x, and assigning the
service app using group policy, to a group of computers using the
computer configuration section. The service thus starts when the
machine boots, before anyone has logged on.
Unfortunately, no events seem to get logged :(
Can anyone tell me if I'm approaching this problem in the right way?
(ie using the event component) and what i need to do to log events in
my service?
I'm using Delphi 6 on windows xp, target system windows 2000
server/client network
