After applying the 7.1 update, my debugging seems to have stopped working
correctly. Frequently when placing my mouse over a variable name in debug
mode, all I get is "[Evaluating...]" then it freezes. From here, I can't
even press F9 to continue running the app. My only choice is a Ctrl+F2. I
get the same lockup problem when trying to look at variables in the Watch
list.

I am now in the process of reinstalling 7.0. Between this and the
persistent field length problem, the update just isn't worth it.

I have gotten strange debugging and editing problems since the update
too. My code accelerations and debugging stop working after a while. My
tooltips won't work at all either during coding (mouse over to get
definition) or at runtime (mouse over to get variable value). Code
insight won't work, pressing Ctrl-Space has no effect. Even pressing
Ctrl-UpArrow and Ctrl-DownArrow will no longer switch between interface
and implementation.

Restarting Delphi doesn't fix it but I have found that a complete
reboot will, so while its very annoying at least it can be solved.

I haven't made a QC entry because I can't work out the steps to
reproduce it, but its been happening every day since I updated. I am
using Win XP Pro.

Are you sure it's the Delphi update? You haven't upgraded anything else,
too?

My D5 is for the moment only sporadically showing debugging tool tips,
it feels like it is since I installed SP4 on Win2000, but I'm not
completely sure.

I suppose it could also be some 3rd party tool that's screwing up
Delphi...
