|
|
Hi Group
I read in another group that XP does not support Win16 apps. Surfing a bit
on the net tells me that it its not that simple. Or ?
I maintain a legacy Delphi 1 app and I've just learned that it doesn't run
on a clean install of WinXP home.
XP does support Win16 apps, does'n it ?
Any hints?
Thanks
Jacob

There is a Microsoft Windows Application Compatibility Toolkit that
is *not* installed by default on XP.

Hopefully that resolves your technical problem. However, in my
experience this tool is quite involved. I have not researched
whether or not you can script it or send an .ini file to your user,
hopefully you can find a way to simplify the process.

Jacob,
Have you tried the compatibility mode settings in Windows Explorer?
Right-click, select Properties, then Compatibility. There is a box
with a dropdown that says 'Run this program in compatibility mode for'
and a list of versions of Windows from Win95 to Win2000.. I'd try the
last version the program worked on and see what happens.
Consider it a warning though, it may not work on future versions of
windows. Might be time for a recompile. :)
Best regards,
