I've installed Delphi 2005 on a desktop PC, and registered online.
Now I want to install it also on my laptop, but because of corporate restrictions, I cannot fullfill the online registration from the laptop.

So I went back to yet another desktop PC, where Delphi 2005 is NOT installed (and never will be, because it is still NT4), and send a registration-request to Borland. I received the Reg563.txt file, put it in my home-directory, but Delphi refuses to use it as the registration file.
When I start Delphi, the registration-wizard is launched. And when I then select to register through received file, I got following message:
'Activation information does not apply to current user/host machine or is no longer valid for this product'.

When I remove the registration file from my home-directory, I can start Delphi, but as an unregistered version, about to expire within 29 days.

Before I received the licensed Delphi version, I used a registration file to experiment with a trial version, and that worked fine.

Since Borland's license clearly states one is allowed to install the product on several computers, I must surely doing something wrong.

Please help...

As far as I know when u register the reg utility looks at some of the
hardware and makes up a magic number that is used in the regristration
process. Therefore you must use your laptop and connect to Borland (dial up
from home) to register. I also think you can call Borland and do it over the
phone. I use D2005 on main PC and Laptop with no problems registering. Also
when u register with Borland a cookie is saved on your machine which will
log you in automactically on next visit. I seem to remember copying the
cookie to my laptop to save me trying to find my logon details.

Hope this helps
