I installed Delphi 2005 Pro on my PC before and registered it through
internet, but that PC crashed. I want to reinstall Delphi 2005 on a brand
new PC. Is it possible? Or do I need to register it again online? Or perhaps
ask Borland to send me a registration file that I can instead save on my
brand new PC so I won't need to reregister again?
Please help...thanks! |

One way or another you'll need to register again. Because it's common
to get a new machine Borland gives you a number of registrations so you
won't have a problem. Just doing another internet registration will be
your easiest option.

file that I need to backup so the next time I won't need to do this process
anymore? thanks for any help. |

As far as I know you'll always need to do the process. However, it's
quick and easy and takes a small fraction of the time that it takes to
actually install the product itself. It sounds like you're trying to
get around the registration scheme.

I don't know since it's so easy. However, I too have had to register
multiple times and on occasion have had to call Borland and get them to
bump my count. This is how they've decided to do business. Many
people have complained about the registration scheme. Perhaps it will
change in the future.

I have a similar problem, I have to upgrade and/or change frequently PC
and/or reinstall Windows, and so on...
and not always I have an internet connection close to me to register my
Delphi copy.
Moreover BORLAND probably within 2 or 3 year ends the support to Delphi
version 2006 (as is the case now for delphi version before DELPHI 2005),
question for MIKE: when borland will not support Delphi2006 I will have to
put my copy (expensive copy $$$!!!!) in my trush !
Let me know !

Ok here's the truth Mike.
Currently, I have Delphi 2006 Architect (BDS2006) registered on my PC.
I'm a new reseller of Delphi here in our country. My client told me to
register his copy of Delphi 2005 online since he doesn't have internet
on his PC (note that there are still millions of PC here in our country
that are not connected to the internet).
I registered his Delphi 2005 Pro in one of my PC's here, and I was
also the one who created a BDN community login/password for him. After
that I gave back his Delphi 2005 copy. After few days
my PC crashed, where I installed his Delphi 2005. Now, he's
trying to install it on his PC (no internet connection) and
he was asking for the registration file (if any), and this is
the very reason I'm asking for help.
Anyway, since you suggested that I need to do the process again, then
so be it. I'm just asking for the registration file that I need to give
back to my client.
thanks for any help.

Fair enough. It is quite possible to do a phone registration if the
machine in question is not connected to the internet. Of course,
you'll have to get the file to the machine somehow.
Here's a link to help you get started:
