I just saw in http://www.borlandevents.com/devcon/PDF/prod_disc_info.pdf
that Delphi 2006 will be released later this year (i.e. after Borcon in Nov
2005)
Is this the same as Dexter or is that a separate release.
This also may mean that there won't be any more patch for Delphi 2005 since
all resources will be committed in Delphi 2006.
I was hoping that it will be released before Nov so that I can get it free
through my SA which expires in Nov.I think I am out of luck now

It probably shouldn't say that. The release timeframe apparently isn't

False assumption.

From what I have understood till now is that Dexter will include Delphi,C# &
C++ Builder.
If this is true why there is a separate pricing for Delphi & C++ Builder in
http://www.borlandevents.com/devcon/PDF/prod_disc_info.pdf
.More over to get Delphi 2006 it will be better to buy(if Dexter does
include all three IDEs) C++ Builder since it costs nearly 300 $ less for the
Architect version.
It also mentions a successor product to C++ Builder. Is it Delphi 2006 or
some thing else(which does not include Delphi)
Some clarity on the subject is welcome or am I missing some thing ?.

Yes, but that doesn't mean they necessarily come all in the same box.
For instance, besides releasing one product inclusive of everything,
Borland could ship one Delphi (Win32 + .NET) version and one "C" (C++
for Win32 + C#) version, or they could come up with one Win32 (Delphi
Win32 + C++ ) and a separate .NET (D.NET + C#) version, or...
I think some of these ideas were discussed on Michael Slinns blog,
before it wsa taken down. I guess we have to wait and see.

If Borland can hit this target with a stable, fast improved Delphi that
should be good news for Borland. Visual Studio 2005 will probably ship only
a little earlier than this ( or may even be later ! ). So people will be
able to directly compare the two.

You can always renew your SA.

Dexter won't support .net 2.0, so there's little point in comparing it with
VS.NET 2005 . . .

Why? .NET 2.0 is simply one check mark on a feature list. :-)

Understood, but VS 2005 will have built in modelling, refactoring, several
new GUI widgets and new RAD development features. So you can compare these
with what Dexter will offer. It could do those in the old ( by then ) dotnet
1.1.

There is for folks who don't use .NET.

They have say (something like) 'we are now focusing in DeXter right now', so
a SP4 for Delphi 2005 is feasible,
but you will have to wait until 2006/2007. BCB people recevided a new
service pack this very year (4 years after BCB6 launched),
so since Delphi was launched in 2005 you probably will have to wait until
2009. If you wish a better Delphi just buy Dexter!

Right, but then can't Borland use the .net 2 classes to implement these same
features in Delphi 2006B (the one due mid next year)?
So really you should compare D2006B with VS.NET 2005, not Dexter . . .

What else are you looking to compare? It's Win 32 support? <g>
