There is a D7 Personal Edition download. I cannot find the link though
in Borland's web site.

You can't download D7 Personal. It has to be purchased from Borland.
However, in saying that a few PC mags around the World had it on their
cover CDs

PCPlus Magazine had it included in issue 196. I think you could order a
copy, which also includes many other software packages. They have good
tutorials on Delphi and you can download the entire magazine in pdf format
from http://www.pcplus.co.uk/pdf/.

How many gigabytes is that file <g>
I have bought/subscribed to PC Plus since 1994, and it is rather big,
with lots and lots of graphics.

BTW, they have had Delphi and C++ Builder tutorials (C# and Java as
well) going on for years now.

If it's free, who cares? Start the download as you retire and check it out
when you awake.

They also provided CodeWarrior (with tutorials) and PaintShop Pro. Well
worth the price of admission.

Another good source for academic purchasing is

http://www.genesis-technologies.com/zborland.asp , 800 433-6326

where they sell Delphi, Kylix, C++ Builder and JBuilder for $119-$129
(professional versions).

What issue was that? Must have missed it.

205 had CodeWarrior Pro 6 (on both the CD and DVD editions) and 206 began
the tutorials.

The license that comes with Delphi 7 on PCPlus is very prohibitive, and i think
specifically specifies that it cannot be used for teaching purposes.

In my day, we learnt to programme with Borland tools, but now, because of their
erratic pricing structure, it's cheaper to use Microsoft VS.net or VB.net using
Microsoft Select Academic, and believe me I know, because I work in the industry
(better mention that before i get flamed again for being disillusioned).

You're right. Thanks for the correction and I want to apologize to anyone
whom I mislead. I didn't read the details, which is out of character for
me.

If the school wants more than 16 seats, they can buy professional licenses
at $36 each from http://www.journeyed.com/asp/search.asp
