|
|
I have D8 Architect German Edition installed with update 2 (German
version of the update, of course). I noticed that the popup menus (e.g.
in model view) and some other stuff for the ECO classes is in English.
It is a bit confusing since the Documentation always mentiones German
menu items.
Are you experiencing the same things or have I messed up the
installation somewhere? It actually doesn't bother me much, but I would
like to inform Borland, if the update has some issues.

Jan,
Could be please be more specific on which popup menus are in English? Could
you also make sure that both your User and System Regional settings are
German on your machine. That can also cause some of the items to appear in
English.
Thank you,
Zoya

1) Right Click on any item in the Model View (Modellansicht)
2) I also notices that in the Object Inspector there is a nice mixing
of German and English. Of course all properties need to be English, but
some of the headers grouping properties are translaters others are not
(i.e. the headers of an attribute may be: Entwurf, General, Tagged
Values).

Good hint! |
I have checked my regional setting and yes you were right, I had set
the formats and standards to English. On the other hand I had set the
language version for programs (on the advanced page) to Deutsch.
After switching the regional settings to Deutsch the menus in the model
view were German (not English as before). The point 2) as mentioned
above did not change.
IMHO the language used in the program should be consistent. Changing
the regional settings (which one has do to from time to time when
reading string coded number data with stupid programs) should not
affect the language of the menues, etc. It is quite a strange behaviour
that only parts of a program change.
From my own experience, I know how hard it is to maintain different
language versions. As mentioned in my last post, it is not an issue for
me using the program (in fact I accidentally ordered the German version
by mistake, I would prefer the English version, but paying twice is not
an option).
Also I hesitate to send in a QC report for such a minor issue. I have
tried to find some mail address through the support site of the Borland
homepage, but it is quite hard to find an easy way of communication
there. Is there an easier way to send such small things to Borland.
In general I have always been very impressed with the translation of
the German version from Borland, and sending in these reports is not
meant as a request, but as a help to Borland. Doing this via QC or the
forums is causing more attention than needed.
Some other question: when will the update for the German documentation
be released?
Thanks,
Jan
