Hi

I was working with Borland products since 3 years ago (specially with C++
Builder 5).

In my first try with Delphi 8 I found a: "Acces Violation" inside the IDE
when I close a windows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I can't believe!!!)

My questions:

- Is Delphi 8 a Delphi 7 with a new face (and with .NET) or really is a
Delphi 7+Bugs fixed+new features?
- Why Borland don't fix these bugs?? I found these bugs n-times since
n-years ago inside Delphi 5, Delphi 6, Delphi 7, Delphi 8, C++ Builder 5,
C++ Builder 6.
- Why don't first fix the bugs and when the bugs are fixed add new features
to the product??

I am sure that the next release of Delphi: Delphi 9 will contain a very
popular ACESS VIOLATION as a free charge.

Could you provide steps to reproduce this?

Delphi 8 is a new IDE, and supports .NET only (ie not Win32). Delphi 9
is planned to have .NET and Win32 support.

There have been many bugs found and fixed. Unless you're more specific,
it's hard to comment on which ones you're talking about.

It's not really anything to do with D7 - it's a brand new product. The
IDE is completely different than in D7 and it only targets .NET

Depends on the bugs. Some of them will be brand-spanking new bugs
written specifically for D8 Smile There have been inumerable, tedious
discussions in the past trying to explain to people who should know
better why not all bugs will get fixed. Rather than start that off all
over again, go to Google groups and read the old discussions.

If you ever write something as large and complex as Delphi and have it
completely bug free, then you will be able to make a fortune telling the
rest of us how you did it :-)

Cheers,
Jim Cooper

That could well be on of your components.
