Hi All,

I'm working on Delphi 8, but have found it to be EXTREMELY slow. It
will take 5 or so seconds to just save a file, and a good 10 seconds
before it actually starts compiling a project. Everything is slow,
including moving components round on forms, selecting components, etc.
I've noticed that the smaller the project, the faster the IDE, but
this doesn't present a viable option for those of us writing
enterprise-scale applications. I've even turned off all services which
are not absolutely essential.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to speed up the IDE (apart from more
RAM, faster computer, etc - I'm already running 2.4 GHz with 512M
RAM)?

Thanks,

Raoul.

I too noticed how slow D8 .NET is. I thought it must be my cpu not fast
enough...

But now that I read this I think: "Holyshit dude"

I run Delphi 8 for .NET on e Pentium III 450 mhz with 256 mb ram.

Designing forms takes way to long so it's pretty useless.

Instead I am coding console applications etc.

But even that has limits... when the source file gets large... like 1000
lines or so even then the IDE will crawl...

Meaning I can type faster than the IDE can handle...

I was thinking about trying D8 on my parents pc which is 2600+ amd etc...
but somehow I already knew it would be slow...

yer I was hoping that it would be fast... but now I am not so sure if it
would make any difference.

I feel sorry for you man... such a fast pc... and it's still slow =D

Man... that's gonna make me re-think about buying a faster pc just a little
bit :)

Skybuck.
