Hello everybody !

I need to make an application in .Net on a Pocket PC device.
I use Delphi since 5 years (From Delphi 3 to Delphi 7 now). I would like to
continue with Delphi 8 for .Net but I read that development for PocketPC is
not possible now...

I see on Borland's site that they work on it... but no release date is
annonced... is anyone here can help me ?

Thanks in advance :-)

Niceti.

Unfortunately, this is not yet possible; the time frame is in
Borland's/Microsoft's hands and not yet known.

to be honest - judging from the past policies of what's included in service
packs and what not - i strongly doubt you'll see this happen as a Delphi 8
update; it will probably have to wait until Delphi 9 or later...

The short answer is that MS is being a bit of a road block
and when they get their act together Borland will follow ASAP.

To expand on this somewhat. There are two problems. One is that the D8
compiler needs a tweak to enable it to target the CF. This is the
relatively trivial problem, and maybe we'll see that fixed for D9
(here's hoping!). The other is that the designers, debugger etc for the
CF are part of Visual Studio, and getting them extracted and usable by
other tools is not that easy and is taking some time. Everyone I've
spoken to at Borland is very keen to include CF support, and I'm sure
we'll see it as soon as it becomes possible.

Cheers,
Jim Cooper

Actually Danny is hoping to have it released as an update, but he is
not sure if the powers will let him...

This has been requested many times before. Do a search and you will find
some responses. The short answer is that MS is being a bit of a road block
and when they get their act together Borland will follow ASAP.
