|
|
I just noticed something strange when trying to use a .NET assembly in
a delphi 2005
project. The problem only occurs when the assembly happens to be
defined as a delphi 2005 .NET package. In this case, getting the dll
and adding a reference to it in your delphi project is apparently not
enough: the compiler will complain that the dcpil file is also needed!
And indeed, providing the dcpil file fixes it.
I find this confusing. I assume it is possible for projects in other
languages like c#
to reference this delphi .NET assembly without requiring the
delphi-specific dcpil file. So why is the dcpil file needed by delphi,
and why can't it be generated from the assembly? What extra information
does it contain? Was I wrong in assuming that assemblies created in
delphi can always be referenced by assemblies written in other
languages?
thanks in advance,
Wim Coenen.
