There is a new version 1.5 of DelphiSpeedUp.

DelphiSpeedUp improves the startup speed and the general speed of Delphi
5, 6, 7, 2005 and BDS 2006. The usage of DelphiSpeedUp has no impact on
the compiled projects. It only improves the IDE.
Delphi 6 and 7 users get the normally hidden "Start without Debugger
(Shift+CTRL+F9)" menu item. And for Delphi 5, 6 and 7 the "Build Project"
menu item's shortcut is set to "Shift+F9".

Direct Download:
http://andy.jgknet.de/misc/DelphiSpeedUpV15.zip

Changes from 1.4 to 1.5:
-----------------------------------
- Better Delphi 2005 and BDS 2006 support
- Fixed hooking limitation (overall speed improvement for more Packages
and DLLs)
- DLLs go to $(APPDATA) instead of $(DELPHI)\Bin
- Fixed installer bug with OpenKey vs. OpenKeyReadOnly for HKLM.

A 'file archiver with high compression ratio' called '7zip' - a freeware open-source client is available from:

Hi Andreas

I'm impressed with DelphiSpeedUp 1.5 and wanted to take a look inside, but
was surprised that the source download has an extension .7z. What kind of
file is it and how do I open it ? Also what I really would like to know is
what kind of improvements you made to the TList. You do mention it shortly
and metion FastObj. So I wonder what's FastObj, where can I get it, and what
aspects of TList does it improve on.
TIA

Regards,
Danny

Afraid so <g> Although I've read great things about it, and its relative performance advantages over zip

Hello Andreas,

Great utility ! Finally I can open Delphi to rapidly look at a source file,
instead of using Notepad (because Delphi takes so long to launch and close).
Thank you, thank you, thank you !

One small proiblem, though.

I installed on my desktop workstation and it works fine.

I also installed on my laptop, with an identical Delphi 7 setup, and it
works fine, except, when I close Delphi 7, I get the following error:

Exception EAssertionFailed in module SSWIDED7.DLL at 00004CCE.
TDelphiIDE,TIDEMenu (Q:\SOCKSW\Lib\SSPatterns.pas, line 503).

Any idea where this could come from ? The crash upon close does not seem to
leave any bad side-effects, but it would be nice to get rid of it.

Best regards,

Olivier

I don't know where this comes from. I have started Delphi 7 around 200
times while developing version 1.5 and I never saw this bug.

Actually there is one difference in the Delphi setups between my laptop and
desktop.

My desktop (where I do NOT get a crash upon closing) also has Delphi 2006
installed. Could that be the difference; the Assert looking for some
component only installed by D2006 ?

There is no Assert() in DelphiSpeedUp.

I have DelphiSpeedUp running on my laptop with D7 only and on my PC
with D7 and D2006 without any problems.

Thanks. One small issue.

I receive an error when opening some projects in D7 with this expert
installed.

I believe it is related to the fact that I have a trial version of
micorOLAP's PostresDAC components. The trial version displays a "nag
screen" dialogue when opening any project using the components.

The error occurs after the dialogue is closed.

Error Creating form: Access violation at address xxxxx in module
"rtl70.bpl" read of address 00000000

I have a full madExcept error report, but cannot find an e-mail address
to send it to you.
