Venting again.

Just took a quick look at Borland Developer Network's homepage.
There are 44 entries in roughly 2 months (between Feb 24th - Apr 29th),
and exactly *1* reference to C++, just to mention that the mobile
version has a common IDE with Java.

Additionally, David I says, on a remark on Bill Gates visit to
Borland's booth on some event: "I mentioned how easy we’ve allowed our
millions of Delphi developers to move their applications to .NET (most
applications can be migrated by a recompile using VCL for .NET)."
http://community.borland.com/article/0,1410,32063,00.html

He forgot to mention how easily they've alowed their half-dozen
C++Builder developer to migrate their apps to the trash bin.

Excuse me, time for my Prozac.

Yeah it really is looking like Borland have forsaken us. I'm surprised that
CBX doesn't get a mention though. It has long seemed to me that Borland
didn't give a damn about VCL developers but now they can't even be bothered
to push CBX?

You're wrong. They do give a damn about VCL developers, as long as you're
developing with Delphi.

Thats because of the all new commitment to developer support etc.

But yeah, I agree...

Honestly, if you have developed such a nonsense as CBX, would you
push it? I wouldn't. I would probably be looking for a rat whole to hide
my face.

You'd need a pretty big rat (even if it was whole) to hide behind...

If CBX had included VCL support /or at the very least had been confirmed as
getting VCL support/ then I'd have bought it. If you discount the VCL
developers CBX looks like a very good product. My complaint has never been
about CBX. It started off as concern at the lack of migration path for VCL
developers and then became extreme annoyance at Borland's lack of comment.

I think CBX looks like it had potential but it currently has too many bugs
to be usable. And with no GUI tools it seems quite expensive for an IDE.
A true cross platform tool with a decent IDE and a cross platform method
to generate GUI with some RAD would have some value, even with the
lack of VCL, though a migration path for existing users should have been
considered. A cross platform compliant compiler would be interesting as
well. CBX doesn't offer any of this at this point. It seems no more than
a "demo" version at this point.

It's been out around 8 months with no attempt to fix
the bugs. It looks like CBX2 will come out without patching CBX1.
Though no one knows when or what it will include.

And frankly, what person in their right mind would buy a CBX2 if it has
been demonstrated that the product is completely unsupported in its
version 1 iteration? It's the old saw, "Fool me once, shame on you,
fool me twice, shame on me."
