|
|
I'm trying to add a D6 component to D2005, and I get the following error
messages:
[References Error] Could not find the assembly "Designide" on the Assembly
Reference Search Path.
[References Error] Could not find the assembly "vclx" on the Assembly
Reference Search Path.
I tried adding a path to the DesignIde.dcp file in C:Program
FilesBorlandBDS3.0lib, but then I get:
[Fatal Error] Bad file format: 'C:Program
FilesBorlandBDS3.0libmscorlib.dcpil'
I'm stuck. Why does Borland insist on making it so hard to reuse our
existing components?
Last week I tried compiling a very, very simple project formerly written and
compiled under D6. It took me more four hours to get it to finally compile.
How many MONTHS is it going to take to compile our larger apps, with
hundreds of thousands of lines of D6 code and hundreds of third-party
components?
Having some regrets... I REALLY, REALLY wanted D2005 to be a knockout
punch, but the slow IDE speed, incompatibilities and seemingly endlessly
steep learning curve is putting a bit of a damper on my enthusiasm.

Try running D2005 in Win32 Only, it's much more stable and faster.

Try this link as well http://blogs.borland.com/CorbinDunn/ (at the |
bottom of the blog page)this tells you how to launch your own customized
versions of Delphi with the command line -r option, been playing with
this today on 2005. this allows you to have many different customized
versions.
This would make a nice new feature for Delphi a bit like customized
desktops have customized loads. I am getting in a bit of a mess working
out what packages etc to load so really need a matrix of dependencies
produced by Borland. Any way certainly speeds up the loading and navigation.
