I'm using negative record IDs on my client and then retranslating them to
"real" IDs in the provider on the app server. However, when I have a master
detail relationship I need to place the "real" ID in the detail record on
the server side. What's a good way to handle this?

Are you using nested datasets (server-side M/D) for the M/D?

No, I'm not. Honestly, I'm unfamiliar with nested datasets. Should I be
using these?

IMHO yes. They are the prefered way to handle M/D's in MIDAS. You may
find this article showing one way to handle auto-increment fields in
MIDAS interesting: http://bdn.borland.com/article/0,1410,20847,00.html
