I don't normally like to start threads that might result in a Borland
bashing contest but on this subject I make an exception.

Has the hurly-burly of a new year meant that I've missed the publication of
this letter or are we still operating in mushroom mode?

Seriously, assuming I haven't missed it, WTF is Borland playing at? I know
TeamB have continuously asked us to be patient but perhaps one of them
could have a chat with their contact(s) at Borland to see what's going on.

Still operating in mushroom mode, whatever that means.

All I'll say is there are still plans to publish a letter and do
something about VCL, but I wouldn't want to stick my neck out by putting
any kind of time estimate on it.

No.

I can't speak for others but they made me to look for other development
tools and I think they are right; I don't need Borland. So they don't need
to satisfy my needs. There is no need to talk to me. Every company has the
right to abandon their existing userbase.

Thanks for the response Sad

That's very true of course but it's rarely wise.

The content of the letter is beginning to be of secondary importance to me.
What is bothering me more is that somehow someone (or some people) at
Borland are allowing this debacle to continue. It really speaks volumes for
what they think about us.

That's really the key, isn't it? At this point, it's not so much about
the technical details any more, as much as it is about honesty and
credibility.

You haven't missed anything.

We are now more than three months removed from the last, VCL-less, open
letter and five months past the arrival of CBX 1.0. Still no sign of the
VCL open letter. :(

On the contrary. There is even more fogg surounding CBX. What about the
support for wxWindows? There are rumours Borland stopped supporting it. Fact
is they have no member in the Foundation board anymore. What a non-company!

John replied on here in addition to his already more than full time job. In
return for trying to explain things he took quite a beating here. Were that
me, I'd certainly not be seen much around here either.

If JK did in fact take a beating, i'd have to guess that the reason for this
'beating' was largely due to the miniscule amounts of information coming out
of Borland. Him disappearing just means there's even less information
floating around.

Its unfortunate if people held JK directly responsible for this lack of
info, but at the same time I don't see a problem in people expressing their
frustration to him (as opposed to at him), if it appears that he is the only
way possible of actually getting a message into Borland.

Now there's no info, no JK. There's a few tech people on the BCBX groups
(which is fantastic - for tech purposes) but still no signs of any flood of
info any time soon.

He disappeared in the midst of these open letters. And I agree, he did take
a lot of beating (on Borland's behalf).

I just think it is curios that he left at this time. He must have been
around for many years.

Have you a link for that? Borland never explains anything. _That_ is the
problem.

People were and are angry because Borland didn't and doesn't say anything.
Don't make the customers the bad guys.

IMO it wouldn't be to difficult to satisfy most of the people here. Borland
is unwilling to do that.

See the thread "Has Borland pulled out of wxWindows Software Foundation?" in
