I'm writing a generic reference table maintenance application. As new
tables are introduced I dont want to keep changing this application so
basically it allows selection of a table, the contents are loaded via a COM+
DM into CDS and displayed for editing in a grid (I'm actually using a
Devexpress QuantumGrid).

I would like to be able to define simple validation rules for the tables,
for example (Col1.Value='Y' or 'N'), Convert to Upper, Min Value, Max Value
etc. These rules will be saved somewhere, probably in the database in
another table and loaded up dynamically. As the user edits data if any rule
has been defined for the edited column then it should be applied and an
exception will be generated if the new data is invalid.

Can anyone suggest the best way of approaching this please.
