|
|
We just upgraded all the way from JBuilder 7 to JBuilder 2005, and it looks
like the Emacs incremental search is even more broken than before.
Now, reverse-incremental-search (Ctrl-R) works correctly, but
incremental-search (Ctrl-S) shows the following (bogus) behavior:
1) Hitting Ctrl-S twice does not do "search again" as it should
2) If Ctrl-S then type the search string, JBuilder finds the first instance,
but if I then hit Ctrl-S again, it just sits there (it should advance to the
next instance of the search string).
I can't believe that this is _still_ broken after 4 new major versions of
JBuilder!

Have you reported this bug to Borland? I don't see anything in
QualityCentral about it. Call me crazy, but I'm thinking that might be
at least a small part of the reason it's still there.
To report it, go to http://qc.borland.com

In JBuilder 7 it worked generally, but only failed after certain OpenTools
actions.
Now it doesn't work at all.
There are also other less intrusive bugs in the Emacs keymap -- which
obviously was never tested.

When you say "upgraded", did you mean "installed over", or "installed
separate"? You should do the latter.

Installed separately, into a different directory entirely.

I think we should take that as a "no". )

Well, as he pointed out in the QC newsgroup, he can't report it now,
because QC doesn't have a version number for JB2005. They have this
problem every time a new version comes out.

Thanks for putting it in QC. It's also in the internal system.

Keep 'em coming. The main reason I don't use the emacs keymap is
because it doesn't really work well enough. I figure if I'm going to
have to learn a new keymap, I might as well learn a "normal" one like
CUA instead of a pseudo-emacs one that will only work in JBuilder.

That much I know isn't true. At least one (and probably several) of the
developers uses the emacs keybindings.
