Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'm trying to work out what the
right EULA is for BCB C++ 6 Pro.

On the Borland web site (something like info.borland.com/...) it has a EULA
which state that the named user can install the product on a reasonable
number of machines, which is the way I remember the EULA for previous
Bormand products or in fact VC++ is the same. But the EULA on the
installation CD does not mention this at all.

Can someone tell me if there is more than one version of a EULA for this
product, or is this difference a cause of different revisions of the EULA
for this product?

Thanks

Paul.

I guess from the lack of response that no one knows. And Borland hasn't
answered my question yet either?

a) It's probably partly that noone knows, partly that I think people are
generally shy about commenting on the license agreement, since it has
obvious legal implications.

b) Borland doesn't typically answer questions in these groups. The only
groups that have an official Borland presence are the .install ones.
The rest are "peer" supported.

That said ...

The license agreement was revised around the time of that posting you
found on the Borland web site. In fact, I think if you read the article
carefully it says something like, "The new licenses are here."
Actually, I found it. You don't need to read very carefully at all.
Here's the quote:

"As Dale Fuller promised on January 15th in his article we now have the
new End User Licence Agreements (EULAs) for our tools ready for you.
These new EULAs supersede the previous EULAs."

Thanks.

I did try to search but I must have typed in the wrong search word.

Also, last night, I actually got a phone call from the Borland help desk in
the UK, and they also confirmed the EULA as it should be, although didn't
seem to know why my CD said something different. But at least I know now,
and know a bit of the history!

Thanks again.

The BDN's search capabilities are terrible. I knew exactly what to
search for and still wasn't able to find it very easily. Several tries
that should have worked either returned nothing or totally irrelevant
results.

Now that I can install on more than one machine, do you know what impact
there is in not registering the product on each machine? Is there anything
disabled until I do? Or is there an easy way of "fooling" it into thinking
I have, like a registry setting?

PLM,

Not registering won't disable anything. The only "side effect" is your
splash screen will just say "Unregistered".

Registering just places a binary key into your Registry. Unfortunately,
there's no easy way to replicate that.
