I have a program that calls the other program like this:

this->Hide(); // hide application 1.
STARTUPINFO si;
PROCESS_INFORMATION pi;

ZeroMemory( &si, sizeof(si) );
si.cb = sizeof(si);
ZeroMemory( &pi, sizeof(pi) );

AnsiString SolverPath=ExePath+"..\\Solver\\Solver.exe";
// Start the child process.
if( !CreateProcess(
SolverPath.c_str(),
NULL, // Command line
NULL, // Process handle not inheritable
NULL, // Thread handle not inheritable
FALSE, // Set handle inheritance to FALSE
0, // No creation flags
NULL, // Use parent's environment block
NULL, // Use parent's starting directory
&si, // Pointer to STARTUPINFO structure
&pi ) // Pointer to PROCESS_INFORMATION structure
)

// Wait until child process exits.
WaitForSingleObject( pi.hProcess, INFINITE );

// Close process and thread handles.
CloseHandle( pi.hProcess );
CloseHandle( pi.hThread );
this->Show(); // show application 1.

In the other program I have a iteration loop

while( newiter && ( !Form1->AbortIteration) )
{
....

Application->ProcessMessages();
....

}

User can abort iteration by pressing a button that will change value
of AbortIteration to true.

When I aborted execution several times I got error message "External
exception EEFFACE". Any idea what causes this and how to avoid it ?

This sounds like an excellent question for the .nativeapi newsgroup.

You are calling that when CreateProcess() fails instead of when it
succeeds.

CloseHandle( pi.hProcess );
CloseHandle( pi.hThread );

You are calling that regardless of whether CreateProcess() succeeds or
fails.

EEFFACE is a special exception type that means you allowed a C++
language exception to escape into the Delphi runtime. The VCL is
written in Delphi Pascal, and it doesn't know how to handle C++
exceptions. So something inside your C++ code is throwing a non-VCL
exception that you are not catching. It is likely in one of your
component event handlers.
