What a waste of time it is to spend in these newsgroups.
I've been watching for the past nine months to see how Borland would
handle the BCB/CBX fiasco, and have been quite angry about it (as past
posts might indicate <G>).
But, I didn't realize how much time was really being wasted until today.
I just came back from a week of non-computer-access vacation, and found
several hundred messages in the BCB/CBX/Delphi non-tech groups (which is
all that I look at anymore, unless I'm trying to solve a specific
problem). Since my main concern has been maintaining a BCB program, I
started to wade through the morass.
It's the same tired old garbage that's been going on for months -- users
complaining about lack of Borland support, Borland keeping quiet about
everything, and TeamB insisting that we just need to have faith, because
we'll all be satisfied Real Soon Now (though I HAVE been happy to see
many TeamB members acknowledging Borland's abysmal handling of this
whole thing).
After getting about halfway through the BCB non-tech messages, and
finding that there isn't anything new, and realizing that I have actual
WORK to do, I've come to the conclusion that (while entertaining), these
newsgroups are not providing one solid piece of information that is
useful to me. This is not due to the lack of the members, but due to
the lack of any feedback from Borland.
So, I wish you guys well. In order to keep the temptation down, I'm
going to delete the borland.com newsgroup server for now, though I may
have to come back if I run into an untractable problem.
I've really enjoyed BCB in the past, and I've appreciated what Borland
products have done for me in the past, but I could realistically have a
whole new career if I wasn't so hung up on seeing what was coming next
in the 'Borland saga'.
Bye, everybody (at least for now).

I could have saved you the trouble.... Here's whats actually happened here
in the last 9 months or so:
Thats it. If you want, check back in in a few months and I'll give you
another update along the same lines.
Hope that helps .

I've found the Newsgroups entertaining as well, but have not been an active
poster for a long, long time. I'm also getting to a point where I wont
bother coming on here to read anything because there is nothing much has
been contributed from Borland.
Maybe its time for me to look elsewhere in the C++ market...
Hope to see you back soon enough David.

I won't tell you how old I was when that song was popular, but I'd
already served 8 years in the Navy<g>.
