Hi,

I'm wanting to create an app that checks what 'plugin objects' are available for it when it is run. (e.g. simulation modules for a data recorder)
These plugins are all visible objects that are used in the same way a normal form would be used - i.e. opens, closes, butons and text etc.

They need to be found when the app runs, so we can't stick them on the toolbar and add them as VCL objects. This is so that we don't have to re-edit the exe to release a new object for it.

Firstly which of the several options would best suit such a system - COM object? ActiveX object? ActiveForm?
They all seem to work in similar but different ways, and having advice will surely cut down on wasted time trying them all out.

Secondly, how do you open up an OCX activeX from BCB?
All the help file stuff sems to be about sticking it onto the toolbar, and then dropping it on the form.
Anybody know what functions to look at or what bits of the help file to check for manullly launching them?

Thanks in Advance,
Ian.
