Hello

I have to develop a simple database software, and I have downloaded
Firebird, which I intended to use for this purpose.
I expected a package to be installed in Delphi, but where are the visual
components ?

How can I create a table ? I hope not just only with SQL commands in a kind
of DOS window.
I expected a more friendly environment, like the BDE manager coming with
Delphi (6 pro for me).

What did I miss ? wrong file downloaded ? third party management tools
required ?

Any link or help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Denis

FB is the database engine. It does not install into Delphi
and so you will not see any new components.
What you need to do is download is the right version
of IBXpress, available free from the Borland code central
site. Do a search on "Overcash" (the author of IBX)
and you will get all the versions quickly.
Then you install this and you will find two new tabs
on your component pallette for data access and
server management.

I also reommend that you download IB_SQL as a tool
similar to the database explorer. You should find links to
that on the FB web-site or on the IBO web-site.

Make sure you also have all the manuals.
