Hello All,
We have an application that currently communicates to a Firebird
database via the BDE. We would like to get rid of the BDE. We would
also like to move from Firebird to SQL Server.
Is there any benefit to using DBExpress rather than just using ODBC?
If the choice is to use DBExpress, would it make sense to first move to
DBExpress using Firebird (get rid of the BDE), then move to SQL Server?
We see moving to SQL Server as being a big step. Mostly because our
database is very complicated and utlizes 'Stored Procedures' a great
deal. With Firebird we use SELECT * from StoredProcedure. With SQL
Server, stored procedures are EXECUTED using an EXEC statement.
Or does DBExpress somehow magically handle this? In an ideal world, we
would like to support both Firebird and SQL Server with the same codebase.
Any experience with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Todd
