Hello all,

I was wondering if it was possible to get a snapshot of any currently
visible window running in Windows? In other words, if I have Notepad
running, given a window's title (e.g. "Notepad") , can I get an image
(BMP, GIF, etc) of Notepad's window? If this is possible, can I do it
without said window being the currently active window?

Any pointers as to how this may be done would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Diego

Hi MikKi,

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it. I may have to
somehow bring any window to the front prior to taking a snapshot. I was
hoping I could get a snapshot whether the window was fully visible or
only partially visible.

Thanks.

Diego

Yes, it's possible. You have to find the window's descriptor you
want to capture, then take a screenshot and cut the area you want.
This can be done with any window that is on screen, however if
the window is (partially) not visible the captured image will have
some other windows in it. Making a screenshot of a not (fully)
visible window is a really hard thing to do.

Regards,
MikKi
