|
|
Hi
How do I install (my own) components in BDS2006?
I have some componenets that I have made in BCB6, that I now want to use
in BDS2006.
In BCB6 I would just select "Install Component", but in BDS2006 I can
only Import a Component, Install a package or create a new component.
So what do I do?
What have Borland been thinking?

Best regards

Try loading the package file and then using install button.
If the component is a pascal one, then check the 'Generate C++ Files'
button BEFORE installing.

It's a C++ component.
I made a package (both in BDS2006 and in BCB6) and tried to install it.
Result, the moment I select "install" the ide exits to the desktop.

Do you mean that the IDE crashes?
I've not seen this at all and I've installed quite a few packages.
Did you compile for BDS and then install it?
Can you create a simple package that demonstrates
this crash and add a QC report with the package as
an attachment so that Borland know about it.
They are being very responsive at present.

Oh well
Given latest announcement I guess I just lost the money spend on BDS2006.
Well, back to BCB6 and start looking for a new platform.

Why would you say that? If anything, BDS (especially C++) would get MORE
development attention than it currently does.

I would very, very, very much like to believe that. Realy.
Have no doubt about that.
But history have taught me otherwise.
Sorry.

You mean the history from a as-to-yet unknown company/group?

You are referring to Borland's history, not the history of whichever company
will take over control of the IDEs. Borland has already stated that it will
make sure that the new company will provide proper focus to all of the IDEs.
That means that Borland will make sure adequate resources will be allocated
for each IDE's development before selling them.

Many years a ago student yet , I bought Borland Turbo C++ 1.0 in 5''1/4
diskettes.Last buy BCB 5Pro, and planning for BDS but not sure yet, because
of many complaints.Any way I hope that I will do it finally .
After 15 years , I felt yesterday 8/2/2006 very bad reading that
post,something like nightmare !!!
But I say to myself, just wait for the development of makes, it is too early
to complain (personally).
I wish the best |
