We are using Builder C++ v6 Ent on W2K and XP systems with MS SQL2000 for
our database. We just built an install using InstallshieldX and gave it a
test run on a W2K box. We got the following error: db-library network
communications layer not loaded. So I did a little looking around the net
and from some of the post I get the feeling that the DBLib is not the way to
go anymore. If I remember correctly that was an option you select when you
do the original install of Builder. Is swapping out the DBLib something
that I should persue? If not, how do I fix my dblib error. If so, is there
a way to change that without having to reinstall Builder? Database
programming isn't a thing, we are willing to learn it, but for the stuff
that we do we found it easy to just use DBLib with the BDE. Is there maybe
a better way of doing things? It does seem like our database connection is
kind of sluggish, we get up to 200 users. Is dbExpress or ADO a better way,
would one of them speed things up? I know this is probably a lot for this
post, so I thank you in advance for any help that you are will to offer.
