How does filtering with findfirst()'s 'attrib' work?

I'm trying to emulate findfirst/findnext using _findfirst/_findnext
which does not have any attrib-filtering.

So e.g. if two attribute-bits (e.g. FA_HIDDEN and FA_SYSTEM) are set
in findfirst: does this mean 'get all the directory-entries which are
hidden AND system' or 'get all the directory-entries which are hidden
OR system' or something else?

And what does 0 mean?

I tried several filtering, e.g.

'attrib_to_find==0 || (attrib_to_find&attrib_found)==attrib_to_find'
(where attrib_to_find is the attrib the user called findfirst() with
and attrib_found is the attrib of the entry _findfirst/_findnext
returned)

, but it had not the behaviour of the original findfirst/findnext.

Perhaps there even exists the source-code of findfirst/findnext
somewhere?

Thanks a lot,

Michael
