Carlos,

C++BuilderX doesn't use .BPR files. You need to create the project file - a
..CBX file - anew in C++BuilderX.

Carlos,

You can't convert it. If you open a .BPR file and a .CBX file in Notepad,
you'll see that their contents are very different. I'm afraid they can't be
automatically converted.

What version of C++Builder was your project created in? Does it use the
VCL?

I think it was 5 or 6 version, No VCL. I just wanted to compile a C Dll,
thta includes some BC packages also...I am not sure if these packages have
VCL inside...

This is some strange, because I searched in the Borland site and there is no
place saing that there is no suport for these files. How can someone guess?

What should I have to open this file? ( what is the name of product ?)

What happens to the money I spent ?

Thanks

Oh dear...

Looks like you (unsurprisingly) assumed that BCBX was the next in the BCB
line.

Its not. At this stage your bpr's are quite useless with BCBX.

Carlos,

C++Builder 6 and any version of C++Builder before that can open .BPR files.
For the greatest compatibility, of course, the version should closely match
the version that the project was created in.

C++BuilderX doesn't use .BPR files. The analogous project file in
C++BuilderX has a .CBX extension. However, this doesn't necessarily mean
that you can't build your DLL in C++BuilderX. You can try recreating the
project in C++BuilderX (thus generating a .CBX file), then adding your
source units to it. Without knowing anything else, I would say that if it
doesn't use the VCL, then there's a good chance it will build.

If you are unhappy with the product, Borland's Customer Service department
(http://www.borland.com/company/contact/index.html) can help you with
exchanges and/or refunds.

Carlos,

Sorry about that, my other post contained an outdated link to Customer
Service. Here is the direct, up-to-date link:

Packages are version-specific. You cannot share then between IDE versions.
Even then, CBX is not the BCB IDE at all, and cannot use BCB projects or
packages anyway. You are going to have to create a new DLL project and
migrate your existing source code over to it. You would have to do that
even when upgrading from one BCB version to another as well.

BCB instead of CBX. They are not the same product (although CBX is slated
to replace BCB).

As a matter of interest, does Borland have a plan to look after existing BCB
customers who have extensively used BCB VCL when CBX replaces it ?

There was no answer to that question. Some speculate we are doomed,
others say there is hope. Believe what you want...

It's worth following the .non-technical section of the newsgroup as this
subject has been discussed at great length in there.

To answer your question though no-one really knows. Or if they do know they
aren't saying. Right now BCB+VCL users are in the dark. We haven't even
been given all the information we were told (by Borland) that we would be
given.

Dropping a product is one thing but saying you'd provide upgrade/transition
information then failing to do so is another. It's been well over six
months since the end of BCB was announced (and about the same since they
promised us another letter specifically for VCL developers) and we have
still not been told anything concrete about the future of C++ VCL
development.

Which is information in and of itself unfortunately.
