1. Fix the bugs, add speed and cut the
overhead.

2. An aggressive price to bring new users.
The way things are people will only
upgrade, no new users. $300 for the new pro user.

3. Books at all bookstores with an
Express version included.

4. C++Builder Express free and no
limitations just like M$ does it. People are
downloading and learning VisualC$.Net
instead of C++Builder Express.

5. More demos like this:
http://bdn.borland.com/article/0,1410,33450,
00.html and "how to" tutorials. Take a look
at the M$ Express website for more ideas.

6... Any others?

I think Borland can sell BSD for much higher price than now. I was really
surprised that I can upgrade from BCB 6 for less than $500.
Average annual developer cost is $100-$120K. It really will not change my
decision about development tool if DSD will cost $5000 or be given for free.
For things it is good for (client side UI interface) VCL has no real
competition.

The most important things for me are
1. Future development assurance. This is most problematic part for me now.
2. Quality of compiler, VCL and IDE. I don't care if there are bugs in IDE
but please release service packs as fast as you can.
3. Support.
4. New Features.

I used to buy every version of Borland C++ pro - until 6. Then it was too
far out of my range for personal development.

6. Free or very low priced product for educational environments. If
students learn BCB/BSD instead of visual studio, they would try to keep
it later at work (even if it's not that easy...).

They need to improve C++ compliance and I think they gave up on Kylix
too early.

As for the price. They might be able to eek out $600 from me for an
upgrade but anything over that and it better be really good.

If BCB had a highly compliant compiler and they released a command
line version which didn't link for free, there would be a lot more
interest. It would also make the boost folks job easier.
I also think Kylix had potential, but I don't see that as a driver
for BCB sales, but that BCB users would be more likely to buy Kylix.

We're working on Update 2, bdsproj2mak, and the next version (Highlander).
Hopefully that is reassuring to you.

We're definitely continuing our focus on quality. Hopefully you can see we
are on the right track when you look at the reponse to BDS 2006 vs Delphi
2005. We also realize the C++ compiler is an important area to focus on so
we're hiring an additional compiler engineer

We continue to support the product, fix bugs, and when it comes to

an amazing job

4. New Features.

We have a good set of new features planned for the next version. We don't
deliver new features in our Updates so don't expect any major new
functionality in Update 2 - just bug fixes.

The new IDE is a joy to work. Code completion and folding in particular
are my two favourite items. Just my 2c.

Hi Tim:

You can make a post in your blog about that.
Yeah, I know, you have lot of work to do, but there is no much announces in
the BCB field (as there are in the Delphi field).

Good news. However, not as much fun as the Atlanta position

http://borland.hodesiq.com/job_detail.asp?JobID=617284&user_id=

which requires...

"knowledge of agile development approaches a definite plus. (XP, Scum, FDD,
etc) "

Scum??!!? I know some people don't like the ALM side of the business, but...

Make installable BDS2006 packages available for TurboPower products like
Orpheus and Abbrevia, some of the most widely used tools of their upgrade
audience. This is something that someone that knows what they're doing
could probably accomplish in 20 minutes. I've been trying off and on for a
week to get these working. I've got 21 days left on my trial and if I'm not
successful getting these working by time the trial expires I'm not going to
be able to justify the update.

I'll second that. However, I don't have two items, everything for me :-)

It appears to be a typo for Scrum, the agile project management methdology.
