Hi all,
I am trying to build an application that can filter (any HTML page for
special words) requested by the user from any browser where I will be able
to either block this page from displaying on the user machine or allow the
user to view it, so what I need is (an expert recommendation) on what is the
best and fast way to achieve this ?
There are really many ways out there on the net, but nothing seem to be
practical and can give me full control on all browsers (BHO, DDE, Proxy
Servers), and the only way I found good was Packet sniffer which is a hell
lot of work to do....so I am really confused and need to know is there any
other way ?? and if the only best way is Http Packet Sniffer, is there any
third party components ?

Since every browser is different, if you are looking for a universal
solution than you need to look at solutions that are browser-independant,
aka run external to the browser.

Look at WinPcap, http://winpcap.polito.it

Thanks Remy for your reply, well I've looked before on WinPcap and I know it
is more than what I need, but I was wondering if there was any other easier
way ?
I heard on subclassing browsers, and hooking windows winsock dll ..so do you
think those 2 solutions can be easier and above all practical solutions for
my task?

Once again thanks remy so much for your help and advice

Regards.

You already ruled that out in your original message.

Hooking the winsock dll is basically very little different than using
WinPCap, they essential do the same thing - provide you direct access to the
raw socket data that is transmitted over connections before applications get
a hold of the data.

No, I do not, sorry. That is one avenue of programming I never got into.
