Okay, I know that BCB may be dead as a door nail. But imagine for the moment that
Borland might actually release another version of BCB and that they might even add
features to their IDE based on a suggestion submitted by a C++ programmer. I realize
this is all incredibly far fetched. But sometimes fantasies can be fun as long as we
don't become obsessed by them. So bear with me.

You know how IDEs can do Search And Replace? This is a feature that has been in
editors for a very long time. But what I've yet to encounter is a joining together of
search and debugging features to set breakpoints.

Suppose in a single class you want to set breakpoints everywhere that it calls
MethodX(). You don't want to set a breakpoint in MethodX because other classes call
it too. You just want to set the breakpoint where this one class calls the method.
Well, wouldn't it be handy to be able to do a Search and Set Breakpoints with either
a prompt for setting a breakpoint on each matching line or a Set All (Visual Slick
Edit gives Go as an option to do this)?

Also, there is no way to search a single file to put out all the matches in a tab.
One has to go to Find In Files and search across more than one file to get a search
result to come out in a tab. Visual Slick Edit provides much better control of search
scope.

I doubt I would spend any more money with Borland. I did not upgrade to
C++Builder V6.0 for the same reason. I am sure I am not alone on that one.
When V6.0 came out, I already just had enough with the lack of support I was
getting from Borland. I am still happy with V5.0 but it could have been a
lot better. The last product I purchased from Bolrand wasd JBuilder V6.0
Enterprise. I have since switched to Eclipse and NetBeans.

In fact the last article I read about Borland was that they were trying to
turn back into Inprise. Not the name, but trying to become a consulting
company. There is no reason to wait till December to announce anything.
Who cares. Also, why sit on new development when you have so many people
asking for help with their current product.

What was the excuse they gave at BorCon? I forgot, but it was a joke. The
only option I see for Borland is to open source the product. That's right
Borland sucks at open source too.
