Hello,

I have a problem with Borland C++ Builder 2006 on Windows XP SP2 and I was
wondering if anyone could help me.

I installed it originally and it was working fine for quite some time.
However, the program no longer opens correctly. The splash screen appears,
and then I see several error messages that can be seen here:

http://hilltop.bradley.edu/~bherreid/img/personal/ErrorMessages1.gif
http://hilltop.bradley.edu/~bherreid/img/personal/ErrorMessages2.gif

The first two are the ones that show up originally, by answering "No" the
message in the second image shows up the next time I try to open the
program. The lower two errors in the first set seem to occur somewhat
randomly. After any of these, the splash screen dissapears, the program
remains in the taskbar but no window is ever drawn. I have to force-quit
the BDS.exe thread from task manager.

In attempts to fix this I have run both a repair install on BDS2006, as well
as a complete uninstall and reinstall. I have also reinstalled all of the
following:

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1
Mircosoft .NET SDK 1.1
Microsoft Visual J# .NET 1.1
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Microsoft .NET SDK 2.0
Microsoft Visual J# .NET 2.0
Microsoft XML

I also uninstalled a few other programs I installed between the last time I
used BDS2006 successfully and when the errors started, although they should
be purely inconsequential (RealPlayer Basic and a Flash Video player).

None of these steps have caused any change in what occurs when I try to open
C++ Builder. I can't think of anything I changed or anything else that
could have possibly caused a change in the program.

Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Hello.

I was having a similar problem with turbo explorer, there is a file call machine.config that comes with the Microsoft.NET framework, config folder, for some reason bds.exe keeps some setting in this file.

You should have a machine.comfig.bak, or a machine.config.default, they should be about 20K.

It work with me, if you want to try it, make a back up of your original machine.config "rename it to machine.config.1 or werever", and make a copy and use the machine.config.default "rename to machine.config". and reestart the bsd.

Let me know if this helps.
