Hi,
I believe most of us design/develop systems like following if we are not
using Bold/Eco:
A. Design the e/r model
B. Convert to a physical model
C. Generate the database
D. Now start Delphi and program using different SQL components and data
aware controls, this is the time consuming part.
I'm wondering if something like Bold exist for E/R developers:
A. Design the e/r model
B. Convert to a physical model
C. Generate the database
D. Import the e/r model into project like Bold
E. An OCl like facility to access the attributes and others of e/r model

With ECO you can reverse a schema into a model. However, that approach
typically does not lend itself to well defined class models. When
starting from the schema end you typically get a well designed schema
without abstract classes, subclasses and other stuff that are easy to
define and easily springs to mind when starting with the class model.
The theory is that it is easier to express the business requirements n a
class diagram than in a sql schema.
The reversal tool is mainly intended for those cases where you have no
contrl over the schema.
Why would you want to start at the database level?

Hi Jesper,
Thanks for the reply, It's just an idea come to mind when doing these usual
sql things, a framework similar to Bold but based on ER modeling will save a
lot of time, I believe that framework will be easier to implement than Bold,
Bold is a great tool.
Thanks,
Frank
