Simple database app...

Several computers running on XP Pro using a router. Both have the 16 bit and
the 32 bit BDEs installed and running.

Both machines have 2 apps installed. One app is original 16 bit DBE app, the
other (which accesses some tables from the 16 bit app) was written in D6 and
used the 32 bit DBD.

Two users entering data in the 16 bit app, after a while, get "index is out
of date" and no more data can be entered.

1. I was told you could have both the 32 and 16 bit BDE on the same machine
(works for me at my office). I was not sure, so I set the directory of the
the .net dir file different for the 16 and the 32 bit engines as I suspected
that there might be a problem with both engines using the same .net dir path
and file. Of course each computer points to the same directory, I just have
different directories (shared) for each .net dir for each engine.

2. Local share is "false" for both engines on each computer. Does this need
to be "true"?

I'm just hoping someone could suggest how to get rid of this problem. They
work a half day, and they get the "index is out of date". I have not been
able to duplicate it here, but I don't have two people working at the same
time.

Does anyone have any ideas? What can I check or change?

Thanks!

Yes, it does.

My best guess is that it will work either way. I would use the same
file for both.

Thank you. I found one machine had it set to true, and the other (where the
data resides) was set to off.

Hopefully that is the problem.

As to having both engines (16 and 32 bit) on each machine.... is it
necessary to have each .net dir file in separate directories for the 16 and
32 bit engines, or can they (should they) share the same .net dir file?
