|
|
Hi,
Im new to Borland and have picked up a project using C++ Builder 5.
Opening up this project, it feels like stepping back 10 years.
To boost team morale, we wish to upgrade to 2006 and build the current
project with this.
The project currently depends on the following third party components..
Developer Express
Direct Oracle Access 401
CoreLab ODAC 5_55
DreamTree 4_12 ( no longer supported )
Is this simply going to be opening up the existing project in 2006 and
re-building or can anyone see lots of problems ahead.
Yes i could 'suck it and see' but would appreciate up front any
opionions of people who have done something similar already. |

From everything I've heard, you will be better off rebuilding the project
from scratch with the new IDE.

Yes iv just opened up my old project - a project group file and it
reports unknown project type. and then removes all my old projects...
not a good start -
Why would Borland not know of its previous project types and be able to
upgrade them?

I have just installed 2006 trial version hoping to migrate the old
project to this latest IDE.
First i cannot open my old project types(bpr) files!
Is this expected? I was expecting an automatic conversion...
Second when i then attempt to build project from scatch, the only C++
project type option i get is ActiveX
Is this expected?
Where are all the C++ project types gone?
Help!!!! |
