Anyone have any insight into why I'd have poor performance using the
DirectShow VMR-9 with the latest ATI X1950 hardware and drivers? I've got a
program (it uses DSPack) that works well on other older hardware, but
performs poorly on a "better" hardware setup (faster machine and newer
graphics hardware).

It seems to be ATI hardware I'm having a problem with, on a Dell machine
with a hyperthread CPU. But the problem persists with the hyperthreading
turned off.

I'm getting really frustrated with this problem.

Thanks.

I didn't notice anything, have a X1900XT (CPU FX-60 = Dual Core)

I'm sorry - I thought I'd updated this thread with some progress. It turns
out that this problem only affects the ATI X1xyz series of boards and
derivatives (tried is on ATI X1300, X1600, X1950, and an ASUS EAX1650
board), while working fine on a lot of other graphics hardware (Intel
on-board chipsets, plus nVidia-based cards, and older ATI hardware). We
contacted ATI and they have duplicated the problem, and will fix it at some
point. Sounds like they know what the issue is, but it needs a driver update
to be made, tested, and then trickled out the the public.

My biggest issue was assuming it was my software with the problem and not
trying other graphics hardware first. In fact, my software seems to work
really well on the other graphics platforms.
