Has anybody any experience with and/or recommendations for using JB 2006
with Windows Vista?

1) Does the JB2006 install work on Vista?
Or should the directory tree be copied over from an XP installation?

2) Does the XP installed jdk1.5 directory work on Vista?
Or should it be replaced with a Vista specific JDK?
And if the latter, should it be version 1.5 or something later?

Thanks for the help.

Not yet

Don't know

That would be my second try. Try a normal install first.

Probably not that well, but I have no experience to base that on

If the first and second try don't work, that would be my third try.

As I understand it JDK 6 was designed to run on Vista, and no other
JDK's were. I would think that JDK 6 would be a good place to start.

That being said, JBuilder 2006 was created and tested on JDK 5, so there
is no guarantee that it will work on JDK 6. Be prepared to run the
console version (JBuilder.exe, not JBuilderW.exe) so you can see any
exceptions, and then see if the exceptions can be dealt with. I know
there are some bundled "patches" for JDK classes, so when you go to a
new JDK those generally need to be examined and some of them need to be
removed.

Just remember that this is all totally unsupported at this time. It
would be good if you could report back with your experiences so others
can learn from your efforts.
