Im trying to start using/learning RaveReports.

In CalcText I want sum a field of detail band, but the value
is always 0. Can anyone advise me?

Hello SSalvo,

You need to set the Controller to the band that will determine when the
calculation will occur, and you need to se the datafield :-)

Hallo Trevor

Thx a lot, it realy helped. I didnt have set the Controller property.
It can be set only to Page Header Band and it seems to me a little bit
confusing (I expected Detail Band). Im beginner in Rave and my previous
Report Builder works a little bit different.

To correct you, it can only be set to either a DataBand or a CalcController

component. I have never seen a need to set a CalcText component to the
PageHeader Band, so you I am bit suspicious about what you are doing.
Typically you would have a standard band as a body header, and then a data
band for to display the details, so each time the detail band prints, your
CalcText component will perform its calculation.

Hallo Trevor

I created simple report with Page header band, detail data band and
footer band. I place CalcText component in footer band and set data view
and data field properties. No CalcController in report occurs. Trying
set Controller property, PageHeader is THE ONLY option in popup. Thats
why my uncertainty. But important si that it works. Thanks again.
