|
|
Ok, I spent a few thousand for BDS 2006 Architect, a couple thousand more on
software assurance, and I get an email with download information for Delphi
2007. That's all well and good, but I may have to re-install sometime
where I dont have access to the Internet, or maybe not the bandwidth to
download again.
The download in the link gives me a 4 meg setup file that seems to be going
out nicely on its own and downloading everything it needs without asking me
where I might want to save it (rude).
So for the tens of thousands I've spent as a loyal
Borland-Inprise-Borland-CodeGear supporter, what do I have to do to get a
cardboard box with a dvd ? |

I got it through software assurance as opposed to being a purchase. I think
that may be why there wasn't a "buy media kit" option (either that or I
missed it entirely), but it's not in the email.
26 dollars difference between the ESD and DVD, that's kinda nuts. I'd be
happy with the DVD's dropped in a mailer, I can do without the cardboard
box, with the color printer wrapper, and "readme" inserts. I also dont
recall anything in my software assurance that said "Oh by the way, if you
want media just like you've always gotten, your gonna have to pay even more"

I did not find it either. And I would really like a DVD. The
web base install has hung up twice now.

Ray, contact support with your SA information, and they will get you a

I couldnt get the java or the http download to work, but the ftp worked
without a hitch, and the setup program itself was a dream. D2007 actually
installed faster and easier while still downloading, than my BDS 2006 did
off of the CD. I think they've finally nailed the install procedure.

Thank you, I will. While I'm at it, I'll ask them *again* to stop sending
me emails telling me how wonderful it is, and asking me to buy it. They
really need to filter out the folks with SA and perhaps send a different
email describing it but without a BUY NOW button.
:) You've already got my money :)

Yes, I bought D2007Ent on 17th March day but I'm still got a marketing
message on 23rd asking me to buy. <g>
You might want to get the marketing team to reconcile the registered
users against their email list. Both the email I used to buy and the
one the marketing message was sent to are the same (except one is
upper case ?). Maybe the case sensitivity threw them ??
Cheers
